The Think 20 meeting entitled "Fostering economic growth and sustainability" will be held on December 11th to create an opportunity for world's leading think tanks to exchange views and observations on the most pressing issues on the global agenda and their possible solutions.
The meeting is organized by the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) in cooperation with the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations and the Lowy Institute for International Relations (Australia). The Russian co-organizers include the National Research University Higher School of Economics, the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy, and the New Economic School.
The meeting is expected to have a significant impact on the agenda of Russia's G20 presidency. Its key findings and recommendations will be submitted to the Russian Sherpa and reported to the G20 Sherpa Meeting on December 12th.
The following items have been placed to the agenda:
- Reinvigorating economic growth: macroeconomic issues and fiscal sustainability;
- Trade & FDI: tools to restore growth and pave the path towards convergence;
- Enhancing sustainable development: finding enduring sources of shared global growth.
A broader range of issues, including: future prospects of global economy; new approaches to financial regulation; food security; transparency and anti-corruption coordination; creation of quality and decent employment; inclusive green growth, among others, will certainly be raised at the meeting.
The main outcomes of the Meeting are expected to be delivered in the form of practical recommendations for decision-makers on the issues of global governance, improving the G20 working process, facilitating inclusive economic growth, and other areas of the Russian Presidency's agenda.
Also, on December 12th will be held the G20 Sherpas meeting, the Business 20 seminar, and the Civil 20 meeting. A conference on the agenda of the Russian Presidency is scheduled for December 13th, when the Russian presidency's priorities will be officially unveiled.
