Presentation of the St.Petersburg Accountability Report on the G20 Development Commitments Implementation
On August 28, 2013 11:00 am the presentation of the St.Petersburg Accountability Report on the G20 Development Commitments Implementation will be held within the framework of Russia's G20 Presidency in 2013 in the RIA Novosti International Multimedia Press Center. The document will be presented by Deputy Finance Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Storchak and Chief of the Presidential Expert Directorate and the Russian G20 Sherpa Ksenia Yudaeva.
At the 2012 Los Cabos Summit, the G20 Leaders tasked the G20 Development Working Group (DWG) with launching an assessment and accountability process for the G20 development-related commitments implementation and reporting on the progress achieved before the 2013 St.Petersburg Summit.
In 2013 Russia launched the accountability process, which resulted in the Accountability Report on the G20 Development Commitments Implementation prepared by the G20 DWG. The preparation of the document was an important step towards enhancing transparency of the G20, as well as raising the awareness of the representatives of the international organizations, business community, experts and academic community regarding the ongoing work of the G20 in the field of development.
In addition, the preparation of the report contributes to the process of improving the efficiency of interactions between the G20 members on the issue of development, helping disseminate a wide variety of approaches, identify best practices and tools of cooperation with partner countries, particularly low income countries, and define next steps and frame future G20 development agenda.
